Having completed graduation and post graduation from Govt Medical College Nagpur India, I Joined the present teaching institution NKP Salve Medical College and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital from its inception in 1993 and presently I am professor & Head of the Department. I completed DNB, FICO and FRCS (Glasgow) along with Royal college travelling fellowship at Moorefield's eye hospital ,London and Queen's Medical Centre Nottingham, in Cornea & External diseases and was selected for International Council Ophthalmology (ICO) Fellowship at Wills eye hospital Philadelphia and did my Glaucoma fellowship under Prof G. Spaeth .I have been teaching Ophthalmology since past 17 years in this institution and have gone through the thick and thin of developmental stages .We started with 2-3 surgeries /month and an Out Patient attendance of around 10 /week and now we are doing over 150 surgeries per month and see over 700 patients /week. I have presented papers on Glaucoma, ocular trauma and Community Ophthalmology in various international conferences at Rome, Hong Kong, Bali, Germany and in AAO, Chicago.

Eye department of NKP Salve Medical Institute is the most economical health hub in this region of Central India for Comprehensive eye services since we have all the sub specialties and gadgetry support. Our vision matches with that of Vision 2020 of WHO. Besides all the primary management modalities we have tertiary care facilities in the form of ROP screening, Keratoplasty, Glaucoma surgeries with MMC, Laser surgeries Anti VEGF injections etc .Currently we cater to 30-35,000 patients every year and screen approximately 5000 school children annually under school screening programme. We are periodically organizing cataract -IOL camps on weekly basis under WHO National Programme for Control of Blindness. We run MCI recognized degree and diploma courses in Ophthalmology. We have short term SICS training programmes for doctors.

I consider my major accomplishments to be able to teach undergraduate and post graduate students and able to offer my professional services to a below average income group. My special interest is in Glaucoma, Ocular trauma and ocular Imaging.
