I moved to China in 2010 after 23 years on the faculty of Northwestern University Department of Ophthalmology in Chicago, Illinois as a cataract surgeon. I have been involved in international blindness prevention activities throughout my career, serving as Executive Director of Health for Humanity for 17 years and traveling extensively worldwide to help develop eye services and train ophthalmic personnel. My primary interest is prevention of blindness, particularly from cataracts. I now live in Shanghai and serve as Program Director of Vision in Practice whose mission is "service to humanity through the elimination of avoidable blindness."
