• WAPDA Hospital Complex is a 250-bedded multi disciplinary hospital serving as an apical organization for WAPDA employees. It acts as a referral centre for Wapda Health Services all over the country. Department of ophthalmology is 40 bedded well-equipped modern eye department. Outpatient department consists of two consultant clinics, one screening room and one refraction room. All the rooms are independently equipped. A scan, B Scan, Argon laser, YAG laser, Humphrey field analyzer are placed in indoor. Operation rooms are custom made and equipped with quality microscope and Phaco machine as well as anterior vitrectomy.
• I am acting as Senior Eye surgeon and head of Department since my joining in Feb 2005. Duties include three OPD clinics, two operation days and one day for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures like perimetery, argon and YAG laser applications. Super vision of juniors, paramedical staff and indoor staff and coordination with management of the hospital is also part of my job. Emergency on call cover is provided by alternating with fellow eye specialist.

• Department of ophthalmology has 20 beds equipped with modern diagnostic, laser and surgical equipment. The department is affiliated with King Saud University Jeddah and is working in close collaboration with King Khalid Specialist Eye Hospital Riyadh.
• This is a well designed purpose built department with fully equipped four out patient clinics along with waiting area, minor operation theater and independent reception on one side and indoors and operation theaters on other side.
• The staff included one consultant, two specialists and four whole time residents along with 10 nurses.
• My responsibilities included four out patient clinics with two operation days and one to two emergency on call duties per week.
• I had been involved in the indoor teaching for residents and nursing staff along with regular lectures and case presentations in hospital auditorium.

• The surgeries included use of external as well as internal approach of vitreoretinal surgery like encirclement, cryo, plomb application, pars plana vitrectomy for PVR, vitreous hemorrhage, vitreoretinal foreign bodies, PDR, retrieval and scleral fixation of dislocated IOLs and removal of dislocated crystalline lenses or nuclei. Also had experience with use of silicon oil and heavy liquids, internal earth magnet and endo-photocoagulation.

• LRBT is recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for post graduate training and by College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan for training requirements towards membership and fellow ship examinations.
• This is a 100-beded trust eye hospital equipped with state of art most modern diagnostic as well as surgical equipment.
• In OPD it gave a greater opportunity to use equipments like slit lamps, keratometer, A-scan and B-scan. Also had rotations in FFA and automated perimetery departments.
• The position gave an ample chance to learn and practice the basic microsurgical techniques. Various surgical procedures performed during this stay included ECCE with and without IOL implantation, trabeculectomy, squint surgery, secondary IOL implantation, anterior vitrectomy, scleral chalazion, pterygium and lid surgeries.
• Had a chance of work in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus section of OPD for about four months. This war a very good opportunity to learn and practice use of prism in squint measurement, amblyopia therapy and decision making in squint surgery.
• The position provided an excellent chance to learn the basics of vitreoretinal surgery as is was working under close association of Dr. Tariq Saeed DABO who is one of the leading vitreoretinal surgeons in the country.

DISSERTATION
Have written a dissertation on "scleral fixation of intra ocular Lens". In eyes lacking enough posterior capsular support for routine posterior chamber intra ocular lens implantation. Two simplified techniques were evaluated during the course of the study.
