Prof. Dr. Keiki R. Mehta is India's leading Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Medical Director & Chief of The Mehta International Eye Institute, Colaba, Mumbai, established by him, now considered to be Asia's most advanced and foremost Ophthalmic Institute. He is the Medical Director and Chief of the Mehta Charity Eye Hospital, Karja. Head of Eye Dept, Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. Appointed Professor of Ophthalmology at D Y Patil Medical College, Mumbai. Specializing in Intraocular implants, Glaucoma, Phacoemulsification and Refractive Laser surgery. Professor of Ophthalmology, D Y Patil Medical College in 2007.

Prof. Dr. Keiki R. Mehta completed his Masters in Ophthalmology in 1971. He did his Diploma in Ophthalmology at the famed Moorfields Eye Hospital in London UK and the Diploma from Dublin Ireland. He has pioneered, in India, the commencement of Intraocular Implants, LASIK and Phacoemulsification Cataract surgery in 1997 for which he is known as the Father of Indian Phacoemulsification. Pioneered the Glaucoma Shunt surgery in 2004. He has pioneered the "Mehta Glaucoma Valve" in 2008 which has now become one of the most popular valves used internationally.

An outstanding researcher and clinician, he has extensive experience of Excimer Laser, PRK and LASIK techniques which he has done on over 13000 patients over the last 16 years. He is a pioneer for Presbyopic LASIK in India.

Winner of 11 Gold Medals from India, having received virtually all the Honors possible, has been the President of the All India Ophthalmologists Association and President of the Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society among many others.

Chairman and Organizing Secretary of the very successful EyeAdvance Congresses for the last 14 years 1996- 2010. These congresses have now reached an iconic status and are recognized worldwide. He is also the Chairman of the Low Vision Centre at Maharashtra.

Prof. Dr. Keiki R. Mehta has received numerous International Awards. He has received Grand Honors the only Indian to be ever awarded. Presented the prestigious Lim International Award from the Asia Pacific Intraocular Implant Association in 1997 for outstanding work in Ophthalmology in the Asia Pacific Region, . Awarded the Triple Ribbon Award of the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, USA, for Outstanding Research presentations in Ophthalmology in 1998. Presented the Outstanding Recognition Award by International Council of Cataract Surgeons for Outstanding Research & Development in Cataract Surgery, award presented at Barcelona, Spain, 2001. He is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Medical Integration Council and the West German Chemtec Foundation for Outstanding Research and Teaching Achievements in the South East Asia Zone. Elected a Member of the Legion d' Honor of the Instituto Barraquer, Barcelona, Spain.

A member of the Vision International Presbyopia Club (VIP Club), "PresbyMania", under the aegis of World Conference of Presbyopia, Geneva, Switzerland
