Worked for 32 years in Central Africa mostly in D.R.Congo and the Central African Republic, firstly in rural eye care to approx 3 million poeople, then as technical advisor in an national program for onchocerciasis control and blindness prevention in CAR supported by CBM. From 1999 to 2007 helped set up the Ophthalmolgy Training Centre for Central Arica in Kinshasa and was the Director of Studies, as well as continuing activities in Onchocerciasis Control and blindeness prevention in francophone countries. From 2008 has been Director of the Mectizan Donation Program based in Atlanta USA
