Information Needed by October 17 for Directory of International Ophthalmology

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to ask for your help.

The International Council of Ophthalmology will publish its Directory of International Ophthalmology again soon to encourage and support communication within the international ophthalmologic community.

The Directory will list all of the national and international ophthalmologic societies and residency programs in the world. We will have it available at the World Ophthalmology Congress in February in Brazil.

But, for us to make the Directory accurate, we need to obtain up-to-date information from ophthalmologic societies. Specifically, we need to have accurate information on societies and residencies by October 17 in order to include it in the 2006 Directory.

Please go to the following address and check the address and other information in the listing for your society or residency program:

http://www.icoph.org/soc/ifos.cfm

If the listing for a society is not accurate:

If you are the president or another officer or executive of the society, please update the information as described below. If you are not an official of the society, please contact one and encourage them to update it the information. (It may help to forward this e-mail to them with your request.)

To update information in the database:

1) Go to http://www.icoph.org/admin

2) Enter your username and password (If you don’t have the username and password, send me an e-mail at mailto:spivey@icoph.org and I will send them to you as soon as I can.)

3) After you enter your username and password, click the link titled "Edit Your Society Information"

4) Make your changes and then click on "Save Changes."

That’s all you have to do.

If the information on a residency is incorrect:

Please send the correct information to your national ophthalmologic society (you can check the database at http://www.icoph.org/soc/ifos.cfm for an e-mail address) and ask them to revise the listing, as described above. (For security reasons, only national societies change information on residency programs.)

If, for some reason, you cannot access the database to revise what’s listed:

You can e-mail changes to me at mailto:spivey@icoph.org or fax them to +1 415 409-8403. It would be wonderful if you could make the corrections online. But if you cannot do that, please send me the correct information in whatever way you can.

If societies don’t revise their listing or send me changes by October 17, then what’s in the database now will appear in the Directory.
