December 2011
Dear ICO Members and Friends,
We look forward to seeing you in Abu Dhabi in February, for scientific programs at the World Ophthalmology Congress ® (WOC 2012), and for the upcoming ICO programs and meetings.
We hope that you will join us for the ICO General Assembly and for the World Ophthalmic Education Colloquium sessions for educators. We also invite you to the VISION 2020 World Forum for Sight programs for eye care advocates committed to prevention of vision loss worldwide.
If you have any outstanding questions about your WOC registration, please email the WOC2012 Registration Team at pco@woc2012.org.
The deadline for paying 2012 ICO dues is January 1, so that your society Representative can have free registration for the World Ophthalmology Congress® in Abu Dhabi, and can vote on your society’s behalf at the ICO General Assembly.
Your ICO society Membership is vital to ensuring that your society is represented at WOC 2012. Each Member society receives one free WOC registration for an official Representative to the ICO with voting privileges at the ICO General Assembly and input into ICO plans, policies, programs and initiatives.
To ensure your society is represented, your ICO membership dues must be received by the ICO no later than January 1, 2012.
If your dues are not received by January 1, we cannot provide free WOC registration for your ICO Representative. This would be extremely unfortunate, so please return your dues payment as soon as possible.
If you have not received an invoice for your annual dues, please write to treasurer@icoph.org.
If your society has not yet selected an ICO Representative who will vote in the ICO General Assembly and have free registration at the WOC, please write us at info@icoph.org.
In preparation for your discussion at the ICO General Assembly in Abu Dhabi, Society Presidents and Member society Representatives have been sent:
– Notice of the ICO General Assembly on February 16, 2012, from 14:00 to 17:00, at the World Ophthalmology Congress® in Abu Dhabi.
– Proposed revised Statutes needed to make the changes in governance called for in our new Strategic Plan, which has been adopted by the Board of Trustees.
The General Assembly will be asked to approve revisions in the Statutes so that we can move forward with the proposed ICO governance changes, which would change the terms of the current four ICO officers and would authorize the election of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
If you have not yet received these official emails, please write Jean-Jacques De Laey, MD, ICO Secretary General, at info@icoph.org.
The ICO invites Representatives from each Member society, leaders of ICO Member societies, and friends to a reception to honor ICO Member societies, immediately following the General Assembly.
This is an opportunity to connect with ICO Board and Advisory Committee Members, and colleagues from around the world, and to enjoy refreshments and appetizers.
We are always interested in your feedback. Please email info@icoph.org if you have any suggestions or comments about our Web site.
I thank you and look forward to seeing you in Abu Dhabi!
With warm regards,
