WHO Video Courses on Outbreaks and Emergencies

The World Health Organization (WHO) recently launched a series of video courses on epidemics and pandemics to improve the response to health emergencies. OpenWHO is an interactive, knowledge-transfer platform geared for those working in emergency situations and is also accessible to the public. The courses transform complex scientific knowledge into easy-to-understand introductory video lessons.

The three main channels on the platform focus on epidemic or pandemic-prone diseases, social science interventions, and emergency response frameworks. The videos use a smaller bandwidth so that people in any country can access them, and offline versions are available on both IOS and Android devices.

The courses––which are free and open to anyone wishing to register––are in English, with many also available in French and Arabic. Courses may be presented in local languages and dialects during epidemics and emergencies.
