ICO Resources for Phacoemulsification

CBM recently partnered with the ICO in the creation of a new phacoemulsification surgeon training curriculum. The “ICO-CBM Phaco Surgeon Training Curriculum: Preparing MSICS Surgeons for Phaco Surgery” was workshopped and expanded by volunteers Drs. Eduardo Mayorga, Jason Penniecook, William Dean, Karl Golnik, Babar Qureshi, Heiko Philippin, and Harpreet Kapoor. Download the PDF or access the Google Doc to adapt the curriculum locally at http://www.icoph.org/phaco-curric.

The ICO Ophthalmology Surgical Competency Assessment Rubric (ICO-OSCAR) is available for Phacoemulsification. The ICO-OSCAR for Phaco is available to download in English, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.

All ICO resources have been developed with the intention that they will be of value for widely different regions regardless of nationality, culture, or socioeconomic status. They are meant to be adapted to fit local needs and resources. Funding for the Phacoemulsification ICO-OSCAR is provided in part by the Alcon Foundation.
