Ophthalmic Educators Letter

April 2013

Registration is now open for the Rio de Janeiro Conference for Ophthalmic Educators on August 6, 2013.  This one-day Conference is being held prior to the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) Congress, which begins on August 7, and is co-sponsored by the ICO, the PAAO, and the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology.

All plenary sessions and select workshops will be offered with simultaneous translation in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

Register Now: Copenhagen Conference for Educators

Will we see you in Copenhagen June 7? If you plan to attend the European Society of Ophthalmology Congress, we encourage you to also attend the Conference for Ophthalmic Educators on June 7, 2013. The Conference will focus on "Medical Teaching: Improving Effectiveness and Efficiency."

Your registration includes a light lunch and refreshments. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided after the conclusion of the Conference.

You will have the opportunity to participate in workshops on various topics, as well as group discussions based on your interests. Workshops will be held on topics such as, "Presentation Skills: Improving Lecture Effectiveness" to increase your impact and student engagement in the classroom.

The workshop "Developing Webinars" will demonstrate how to easily set up and conduct a webinar, then will provide a practice session with participants. "Teaching Principles" workshop will provide a brief overview of adult learning principles, learning styles and teaching styles. Participants will then apply these principles through guided activities.

This one-day Conference will take place on June 7, prior to the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) Congress, which is being held June 8-11. It is organized and co-sponsored by the ICO, the SOE, and the Danish Ophthalmological Society.
