Task Force on URE School Eye Health Program

Together with LIGHT FOR THE WORLD (LFTW) the ICO Task Force on Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE) is implementing a multi-dimensional school eye health program, which includes screening for eye health, service provision of spectacles, advocacy, systems strengthening and operational research to be carried out in Pakistan and Nigeria.
Sponsored by the ICO in collaboration with the ICOFoundation, Foundation Dark and Light Netherlands, and LIGHT FOR THE WORLD Austria, this program will screen 1 million school children for eye health in schools in Pakistan and Nigeria. Also included in this initiative is teacher training and testing, sibling testing, health education and operational research.
The goal of this project is to develop eye health screening in schools to become part of a more comprehensive eye care delivery system.
