More than 50 participants attended the most recent ICO Residency Program Directors Course, in Changsha, China, on June 14–15, 2014.

"I thank the Chinese Co-Coordinator Dr. Xiaoxin Li and ICO Educators Drs. Eduardo Mayorga and Gabriela Palis for their contributions in making this meeting a success," said Dr. Karl Golnik, ICO Director for Education.

The ICO Residency Program Directors Courses serve to improve each participant's educational effectiveness through interactive means. Topics include application of adult learning principles, teaching and assessing surgical skill, developing curricula, and new methods to teach and assess professionalism.

"Thank you to The Allergan Foundation for supporting the ICO Residency Program Directors Courses and to the Chinese Ophthalmological Society for providing additional support of the Changsha meeting," said Dr. Golnik.

While these courses are open to educators on an invitation-only basis, many of the instructional materials used are available to everyone. Please download the updated ICO Residency Curriculum and check out other valuable educational resources, such as the ICO-OSCARs, in the ICO’s Center for Ophthalmic Educators: educators.icoph.org.
