Firework-related Eye Injuries Study Questionnaire

Posted on January 22, 2018
Topic: ICO Partners

Eye injuries from fireworks are a recurrent problem, and the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) is collecting data to provide a worldwide perspective on firework-related eye injuries.

If you have seen patients with eye injuries from fireworks, please complete this questionnaire, which is available through 28 February 2018. The Netherlands instigated the Firework-related Eye Injuries Study, and the SOE will share final data.

The ICO encourages ophthalmologists and ophthalmology societies to advocate to their national governments for a ban on consumer fireworks as a strategy to prevent unnecessary blindness and visual impairment from firework-related injuries. Read the ICO Position Paper on the Global Ban of Consumer Fireworks.
