The ICO Guide to Effective CPD/CME is a practical resource covering concepts and questions regarding continuing professional development (CPD) and continuing medical education (CME), reinforcing that medical education goes far beyond certification.

The book, updated in March 2017, is presented in a problem-based format and enables the user to navigate easily to sections they find most relevant. The guide covers CPD/CME concepts, the individual’s role in CPD, the educator’s role in CPD, organizational development of CPD, and the regulator’s role in CPD.

Dr. Helena Filipe, Chair of the ICO Continuing Professional Development Committee, presented the ICO Guide to Effective CPD/CME at the November 2016 European CME Forum in Amsterdam.
