Please Comment on Draft Strategic Plan

Do you agree in general with the broad future directions proposed for the ICO/IFOS in Part 1 of the draft Plan, or not?

If you disagree with any of what has been suggested, how would you change it?

(You can view the draft plan at http://www.icoph.org/plan/part1.hml or download it from http://www.icoph.org/pdf/ICOdraftplan.pdf.)

The Draft Strategic Plan is a giant leap in the right direction. Working with National Societies is for me the best strategy to enhance the quality and practice of ophthalmology and bring desirable changes to every nation. I congratulate the authors for a job well done. I will go into specific details when I have digested the contents fully. I am certainly thrilled by the general outlook.

I have now gone through the entire document and it is really splendid. A marvellous job.

I notice that Continuing Professional Education has been subsumed under the Goal of Ophthalmic Education. Considering the importance of this topic now and in the future, I would like to suggest that it is retained as a separate GOAL on its own. Similarly, I can see no place for “Ethics” as a Goal but noticed that the section on Eye Care and Vision inevitably would encompass ETHICS as it relates to standards for the practice of Ophthalmology, research and relationships with industry. Could we therefore change the sub-heading to “Ethics, Eye Care and Vision?”
I have already posted these additional comments.
Well done.

I agree with the draft strategic plan. it is a superb way of ensuring that the rest of the developing world is not left too far behind the developed world in terms of eye care, it will also help in attaining the vision 2020 goal.
