Subspecialty Day vs Invited Program

The Program Format Development Subcommittee has redefined the purpose and aims of the Subspecialty Day programs and regular invited subspecialty sessions.

Subspecialty Day Sessions Invited Sessions
Target Audience Subspecialists, Subspecialty Fellows,General Ophthalmologists, and Trainees with a keen interest in knowing the latest advances in any one of the 8 subspecialties. Any practicing ophthalmologists wishing to learn about advances in their subspecialty, with the aim of applying this knowledge to their day-to-day clinical practice.
Contents Emphasis on latest advances and developments in each subspecialty, including controversial / debatable topics. Emphasis on evidence-based or well-tested management approaches (including both investigations and treatments) that could be applied in clinical practice.
Session Format Sufficient time set aside for discussions among a panel of experts and audience. Emphasis on didactic lectures. Brief Q&A provided after each presentation.
