ICO Endorses Global Ban on Consumer Fireworks
The ICO endorses a global ban on consumer fireworks and encourages ICO member societies to advocate for legislation to ban consumer fireworks in their countries. The Position Paper was also endorsed by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council (IPOSC).

ICO Guidelines for Glaucoma Eye Care
The Task Force on Glaucoma has issued ICO Guidelines for Glaucoma Eye Care, international guidelines for the evaluation and management of glaucoma, based on existing guidelines and other resources. The ICO Guidelines summarize core requirements for the appropriate care of open and closed angle glaucoma and consider low and intermediate to high-resource settings. The Guidelines are available in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

Learning Document of the ICO Task Force on Uncorrected Refractive Errors

Surgical Assessment Tool: ICO-OSCAR in English, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese, and French
The ICO-Ophthalmology Surgical Competency Assessment Rubric (OSCAR) is a standardized, internationally-valid tool to teach and assess an ophthalmologist’s competence in performing surgery. The ICO currently offers OSCAR's for Extracapsular Cataract Extraction, Phacoemulsification, Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS), Strabismus, and Lateral Tarsal Strip Surgery in English. Selected ICO-OSCAR's are available in Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

ICO International Guidelines for Accreditation of Ophthalmology Residency Training Programs

To ensure high quality capacity development and skills of eye care teams, the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO), International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) have signed a declaration to meet ambitous eye care goals.

ICO Residency Curriculum
The ICO Residency Curriculum offers an international consensus on what residents in ophthalmology should be taught. It is available in English and Chinese. Additionally, the Cataract and Lens Section of the Residency Curriculum is available for download in Spanish and French.

The ICO Teaching the Teachers Committee has developed a document describing the role of a Residency Program Director. By clearly defining this role, the document will serve to support those already in this position, as a reference to demonstrate this position is needed, and to clarify that this should be a separate person from the department or program chair.
