ICO Endorses Global Ban on Consumer Fireworks
The ICO endorses a global ban on consumer fireworks and encourages ICO member societies to advocate for legislation to ban consumer fireworks in their countries. The Position Paper was also endorsed by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council (IPOSC).

ICO Guidelines for Glaucoma Eye Care
The Task Force on Glaucoma has issued ICO Guidelines for Glaucoma Eye Care, international guidelines for the evaluation and management of glaucoma, based on existing guidelines and other resources. The ICO Guidelines summarize core requirements for the appropriate care of open and closed angle glaucoma and consider low and intermediate to high-resource settings. The Guidelines are available in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

With greater emphasis on systems, the manual provides teaching on; daily management, management of self, understanding common eye conditions requiring surgical intervention, how to work within the operating theatre facility, and how to safely care for the patient.
While the text is focused on the Operating Theatre – or Operating Room as it is also referred to, elements can be applied to minor procedure and outpatient clinics, mobile health units, wards and community health situations. This manual can be utilised by existing professionals requiring a refresher, and those new to the profession. It also provides an introduction to non-medically-train. This text is now on the IAPB Standards list.

Surgical Assessment Tool: ICO-OSCAR in English, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese, and French
The ICO-Ophthalmology Surgical Competency Assessment Rubric (OSCAR) is a standardized, internationally-valid tool to teach and assess an ophthalmologist’s competence in performing surgery. The ICO currently offers OSCAR's for Extracapsular Cataract Extraction, Phacoemulsification, Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS), Strabismus, and Lateral Tarsal Strip Surgery in English. Selected ICO-OSCAR's are available in Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Bioethical Framework for Policy and Procedure 2015
The document provides a framework to guide and govern professional activities in the procurement, processing, distribution and clinical application of human ocular tissue - used for ocular transplant surgeries. The scope of this framework is further intended to include procurement, processing, distribution and clinical application of other medical products of human origin, where this application constitutes delivery of ophthalmological services, such as amniotic membrane transplantation. This Framework is informed by the WHO Guiding Principles on Human Cell,Tissue, and Organ Transplantation (2010), the World Medical Association (WMA) Statement on Human Tissue for Transplantation (2007), and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights(1947).
