London School Master’s Degree Program on Public Health for Eye Care

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine's Master of Science (MSc) Degree Program on Public Health for Eye Care aims to provide eye health professionals with the public health knowledge and skills required to reduce blindness and visual disability in their population.

The training received will enable students to:

  • Develop a public health approach to eye care services and controlling blindness--keeping with the objectives of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight
  • Acquire and apply skills in eye health epidemiological and operational research
  • Adopt public health strategies in planning and managing eye care programs
  • Facilitate personal development, enabling individuals to contribute more fully to their countries’ and societies’ eye health
  • Engage with local, national, and international networks of health professionals and systems, for the prevention of blindness worldwide

Application Deadline:  The program recommends applying by March, but continues to accept applications until all places are filled.

Entrance Requirements:  Students are expected to have a degree in medicine or a second class honors degree from a recognised university in science, health, or a related subject. Students are expected to be health care professionals involved in eye care, or to have appropriate technical qualifications and work experience.

Course Duration:  Full-time for one year or part-time over two years. Students taking the course over two years will be full-time for the first two terms in year one, and then take the third term, exams and summer project in year two.  Modules can also be taken as short courses and are credit weighted.
